About Maree Johnson

Originally from Sydney Australia, Maree is currently playing the role of Madame Giry in the Broadway Production of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Earlier in her career, Maree played the role of Christine Daae in the Australian production of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Cameron Mackintosh). Maree went on the play iconic roles such as Grizabella in CATS (The Really Useful Group); Maria in WEST SIDE STORY (International Management Group); Eliza in MY FAIR LADY (IMG); Isabel/Helen in SCROOGE; LES MISERABLES (Cameron Mackintosh); Young Heidi and Young Sally in two separate concert performances of Stephen Sondheim’s FOLLIES and the lead role in Sondheim’s YOU’RE GONNA LOVE TOMORROW (Sydney Opera House). After winning the SYDNEY CABARET CONVENTION, Maree found herself in New York City (in more ways than one) and decided to stay. In the U.S her roles include, The Widow in ZORBA (Berkshire Theatre Festival); Fosca in PASSION (Wilma Theatre); and Emily in MYTHS & HYMNS (Prince Music Theatre). Her concert and cabaret performances have entertained audiences around the world. Maree now lives on the Upper West Side in New York City with her husband and two daughters.
